I still have a song that we did together which I am yet to release and I have my reasons.  A lot of people capitalised on his demise and released collaborations they did with Dagrin. There is nothing wrong with it but I was not in the right frame of mind to contribute to any tribute song or release any song I did with him because I was pained as a friend and not a fan",he said.

A number of top Jazz acts have been lined up for the maiden edition of  Bayelsa State International Jazz Festival.

Jazz artistes expected are South Africa’s legend Hugh Masakela, Nigeria’s Femi Kuti and American Jazz legend Earl Klugh. Others include Somi, Ego, Gbamgbe BrassBand Cotonou and Naija Jazz All Stars Band.

The Government of Bayelsa is adding Jazz to its tourism roll call as the state capital Yenogoa has hosted several events in the last eight months which includes Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and the National to Festival of Arts and Culture.

According to the state’s Commissioner of Information, Mackson Fefegha, ‘the Seriake Dickson administration is determined to transform Bayelsa into a tourism hub in Africa’.

2FACE HYPERTEK SIGNS VETERAN MUSICIAN VICTOR UWAIFO

2Face Idibia has signed veteran musician and former Commission in Edo State, Victor Uwaifo under his Hypertek Digital record label.

The deal was reached this morning at Club Rumours, which is reportedly co-owned by 2Face and Dotun, Queen Onakola's husband.

It was learnt that the former Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism between under Lucky Igbinedion will now release his new album under the young singer's label.

We also gathered that the 'Guitar Boy' and 'Mami Water' crooner is excited about the development and he's ready to take the centre stage again like he did many years ago.

Uwaifo created his own style of music called 'Joromi' and has been in the business of music since 1960. Only some months ago did 2Face did a remix of Victor Uwaifo's friend, Victor Olaiya's 'Baby Jowo', which was a smash hit singlee back then.

Uwaifo is the Chairman of Joromi Organization, which is a multi-track recording and television studio in Benin City, Edo State. He also runs an art gallery and the Victor Uwaifo Hall of Fame.

VETERAN ACTRESS JEAN KENT DIES AT 92

Film and television actress Jean Kent, one of Britain's biggest stars in the 1940s and 1950s, has died.

She was injured in a fall at her home in Westhorpe, Suffolk, on Thursday and died earlier at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

Her death was announced by a close family friend, author and former film critic Michael Thornton.

Her last public appearance was in 2011 when she was honoured by the British Film Institute on her 90th birthday.

Mr Thornton said: "I knew Jean for more than 50 years. She was a feisty, funny, outspoken character who never took herself too seriously.

"She knew what it meant to be a star and regarded it as her job to live up to that position and never to disappoint the public."

Kent's career included regular appearances in Gainsborough melodramas, which were popular with large numbers of newly-independent women following the outbreak of World War II.

She made 45 films and during her career starred alongside Marilyn Monroe, Michael Redgrave and Laurence Olivier.

POLICE HELICOPTER CRASH INTO PUB IN GLASGOW

One person has been confirmed dead after a police helicopter crashed into a busy pub in Glasgow.

Police Scotland said they expected the final number of fatalities would be higher and a rescue operation is continuing at the scene.

The crash happened at The Clutha in Stockwell Street at 22:25 on Friday.

There were three people on board the helicopter - two officers and a civilian pilot. Thirty-two people have been taken to local hospitals.

Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond told a press conference it was a "black day for Scotland."

Chief Constable Sir Stephen House confirmed that one person had died and further fatalities were expected after the helicopter crashed on to the roof of the pub.

Prince George is now the proud owner of a herd of cows. A tribe in Kenya has decided to gift Prince William and Kate Middleton's first-born child with four heifers, a bull, and a goat in honor of his recent christening. The present is said to be symbolic of a blessing from the Samburu community -- a deeply significant honor.

The animals will be raised in Lewa, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a safari in 2010. It was during that trip to Kenya, in fact, that Prince William proposed to his wife.

The Duke, 31, sent a letter of thanks to the Samburu community for their thoughtful and very meaningful gift. "Thank you all so very much for the extraordinary honour. I remember my time with you with immense happiness and I could not be more grateful to you all for this kindness," he wrote.

RYAN GIGGS KEEN TO PLAY BEYOND 40

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has no plans to retire despite turning 40 on Friday Nov 29, BBC Sports reports.

The Welshman has spent his whole career at Old Trafford, making 953 club appearances since making his debut against Everton in 1991.

“I’m lucky that I have been at one club, where I am surrounded by good players and a good manager,” he said.

“It can be hard sometimes but I am still enjoying it. As long as that is the case I will carry on.”

He added, “I still want to do well in every game, want to win trophies and my focus needs to be on that.”

Giggs, who has won as many league titles as Arsenal (13), is out of contract at the end of the season and although he has also taken on coaching duties he wants to continue to play for as long as possible.

SAHEED BALOGUN DRAGS FATHIA TO COURT OVER NAME

Few years ago, Saheed Balogun reportedly said he would soon stop his ex wife, Fathia Balogun, from using his name.

Saheed was quoted to have said “She is my ex. As for my name that she is still answering, the deed will be done soon. The Nigerian law says that after three or four years, you can do something about it. If somebody wants to keep my name, what of the new person coming in? This has nothing to do with grudges.”

It was the climax of the month-long celebrations of Nollywood’s 20th anniversary which began last month.

Held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, the grand awards night was a rendezvous of who is who in the entertainment industry. The event featured different categories of awards which were given to deserving practitioners  who have paid their dues in the industry.

A special documentary tribute to legends of the Nigerian film industry was shown to the large audiences. It had the likes of Francis Oladele, Ade Afolayan, Eddie Ugbomah, and Hubert Ogunde.

COURT FREES 2 LEBANESE SUSPECTS,1 JAILED FOR LIFE

Justice Ademola Adeniyi of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday, dismissed the 16-count criminal charge that was preferred against the Lebanese co-owner of Amigo Supermarket, Mustapha Fawaz, by the Federal Government, following his alleged involvement in the illegal importation of arms into Nigeria.

Equally discharged by the court yesterday was another Lebanese, Abdullahi Thahini, who was arrested at the MallamAminuKanoInternationalAirport on May 11, 2013, and the sum of $61, 170, recovered from him.

The government had alleged that Thahini, who it said had attempted to escape from the country via a Middle East airline, was deeply involved in terrorism financing in the country.

However, the court, yesterday, found the 3rd accused person, Tahal Roda, guilty on two counts of criminal conspiracy contrary to section 1(14) (a) (i) of Miscellaneous Offences Act, CAP M17, LFN, 2004, and sentenced him to life imprisonment on each of the counts, stressing that his sentence should run concurrently.

It will be recalled that the federal government had specifically alleged that Fawaz who is equally the owner of Wonderland Amusement Park Resort in Abuja and his compatriots were members of the military wing of a Lebanon based terrorist organization, Hezbollah.

S*X ROLE IS NOT MY THING - ADAORA UKOH

It was once said that she was the one who ‘whispered’ to Ini Edo that Uche Jombo had a bet that Ini’s marriage was not going to be a success, Adaora Ukoh has somehow grown above this level and has remain undaunted when people talk about her, now that she is married several months back, she is not finding marriage as smooth as a lot of movies she plays have made once made her believe.

Adaora said “Well, I just noticed that it’s really not an easy world. When I look at the Omotolas that have kept theirs, I give them kudos. It’s really not easy because men come with a lot of drama and they want to hold it down for you at that point when they’ve entered. And sometime it looks like you are trying to fight it out.”

Sex role is not really her thing when it comes to movies, “Séx role is not my thing. When you look at every movie, there is usually a theme. Like the movie I’m shooting currently, there is séx scene but the producer decided to shoot it like a silhouette, where you light the wall. You will be doing all the séx scenes but it will be showing on the wall. Not that I don’t do romance, I do romance in movies but I might not do outright showing the séx scene that probably could look vulgar.”

OKOCHA WANTS PUMA TO KIT EAGLES

FORMER Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, has not stopped reflecting on the impact sports wear manufacturers, Puma had on his eventful career, long after he has hung his boots.

Okocha, who is a Puma ambassador was the cynosure of all eyes at the launch and opening of the new Puma store at the Palms shopping mall Lekki Lagos said it was time for him to pay back.He promised to ensure the brand kits the national team.

SPAIN ARRESTS 3 NIGERIANS FOR FORCING MOTHERS INTO PROSTITUTION

Spanish police said Thursday they have arrested three Nigerians who forced African women into prostitution in Europe, including by holding two women’s children captive for at least four months.

Five women in different Spanish cities were freed from the clutches of the gang after a long operation that began at the beginning of the year, on the basis of information from a young African prostitute, a police statement said.

In August, police rescued two little children, one of them aged three, from an address in Valmojado, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) from Madrid. They were found in poor health and malnourished.

NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS EUCHARIA ANUNOBI LOSES RELEVANCE

Imo State born actress, Eucharia Anunobi was a toast of every movie producer who always wanted to have her face adorned their movie jackets. This was in the 90s through the early 2000s.

Gradually her popularity started dwindling, but she managed to keep afloat despite her ordination as an Evangelist.

From the look of things, it's obviously the lady evangelist has lost touch with her social life and this has made the actress left the social and entertainment scene completely. COURT REMANDS MAN WHO RAPES OWN DAUGHTER

A 48 year-old man, Mr. Sanni Idowu, has been remanded in Agodi Prison, Ibadan by a magistrate court for allegedly raping his daughter.

Until his arrest, the 48-year-old man was living at Ifedapo Amuloko area of Ibadan.

The girl, 15, was said to have been de-flowered by her father at the age of 10.

It was further gathered that the accused who has two wives had sent the mother of the girl away while the second wife has been ill for quite sometime.

According to the charge sheet marked MI/15079/c/2013, the accused was caught on October 23, 2013 at about 09:15 a. m.

The prosecutor, Mr. S. Ogunremi said: “That you Sanni Idowu on October 23, 2013 at Ifedapo, Amuloko area of Ibadan, in the magisterial district did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one girl(name withheld) age 15 years without her consent.

“The offence contravened section 357 and punishable under section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 Vol II Laws of Oyo state of Nigeria 2000.” The daughter said the father threatened to kill her if she told anybody.

At the arraignment of the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate S. A Oyediran adjourned the case to December 9 for hearing.

ASARI DOKUBO RELEASED

The leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who was arrested on Tuesday Nov 26 in Cotonou, Benin Republic has been released.

Mr. Dokubo was released after President Goodluck Jonathan personally intervened on his behalf with the Beninoise President Yayi Boni. His release was confirmed by Festus Keyamo, a civil rights activist and personal attorney to Mr. Dokubo.

It will be recalled that Dokubo, who once bragged openly that his arrest will lead to the demise of Nigeria spent 36 hours with the Beninoise gendarmes before his release around 1 AM Nigerian time today.

According to the information available, Goodluck Jonathan deployed a jet to ferry Mr. Asari to Abuja a few hours after his release
