POMP AND ELEGANCE AS NOLLYWOOD @ 20 COMES TO AN END

It was the climax of the month-long celebrations of Nollywood’s 20th anniversary which began last month.

Held at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, the grand awards night was a rendezvous of who is who in the entertainment industry. The event featured different categories of awards which were given to deserving practitioners  who have paid their dues in the industry.

A special documentary tribute to legends of the Nigerian film industry was shown to the large audiences. It had the likes of Francis Oladele, Ade Afolayan, Eddie Ugbomah, and Hubert Ogunde.

The almost endless list of awardees include Prince Jide Kosoko, Eddie Ugbmah, Okey Affason, Madu Chikwendu and Zeb Ejiro in the first category.

Another category of awards went to Ralph Nwadike, Tunji Bamishigbin, Abiola Olanrewaju, Keppy Ekpenyong Bassey, Yinka Quadri, Sunny MacDon, Kate Henshaw, Lanre Hassan, Tunde Kelani, Tunde Alabi Hundeyin, Don Pedro Obaseki, Francis Onwochei, Azuh Arinze.

The outstanding recognition awards were given to Femi Odugbemi, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Fidelis Duker, Emma Isikaku, Nobert Ajaegbo, Bond Emeruwa and Emma Ogugua.

Also, actors like Larry Williams, Pete Edochie, Franca Brown, Idowu Phillips, Kingsley Ogoro, Obi Madubuogu, Joe Dudun, Chico Ejiro, Cosmas Ndulue, Kasumu Yaro, Mahmood Ali Balogun, Emeka Ossai, Obi Osotule, Prince Ifeayi Dike and Alibaba were rewarded for the extraordinary services they have been rendering to the industry.

Veteran awards were given to Olu Jacobs and his wife, Joke Silba,  Teco Benson, Tade Ogidan, Emem Isong, Fred Amata, KOK, Adebayo Salami, Sanni Muazu, Chidi Nwokeabia, Lancelot Imasuen, Okey Ogunjiofor, Opa Williams and Abiola Atanda.

While Fidelis Emeta, Mike Nliam and Jonathan Gbemuto were grouped as Unsung Heroes of Nollywood, Funke Akindele, Segun Arinze, Patience Ozokwo, Desmond Elliot, Stephanie Linus, Dagogo Jack, Iyen Obaseki, Mohammed Abdullahi, Ngozi Ikemba bagged the Outstanding Talents awards.

Other awardees were Andy Boyo, French Embassy Nigeria , Pharmaterx, AIT, UNILAG, Henry Chibueze Matthew, Africamagic, Adrien Gbinigie , Nigeria Communication Commission, NTA and Digital Bridge Institute who were given  the Outstanding Partners awards.


Ex-Sunday Editor of The Guardian Newspaper, Jahman Anikulapo and film critic cum journalist, Shuaib Hussein respectively bagged Outstanding Media Partner awards.  There were also thrilling performances by Timi Dakolo and X Project. The event was anchored by Olisa Adibua and Maryam Apollo.
