PRESIDENT JONATHAN APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF INTELLIGENCE AGENCY

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Ambassador Ayo Oke as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

This was announced in a press statement by the Presidential Spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati.

Ambassador Oke, who hails from Oyo State takes over from the outgoing Director-General of the Agency, Ambassador Ezekiel Olaniyi Oladeji, whose tenure has elapsed.

According to the statement, Ambassador Oke is a career diplomat, who was formerly at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. Until his appointment as Director-General, he was the Director (Regions) at the Headquarters of the NIA.

President Jonathan has similarly approved the appointments of Mr. E.O. Okafor (Anambra State) as Deputy Director-General (Operations) and Mr. Arap A. Yadam (Plateau State) as Deputy Director-General (Administration) of the NIA.


All three appointments are with immediate effect.
