BABY FACTORY UNCOVERED IN ONDO,24 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
At least 24 suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal establishment.
Among those nabbed by the anti-trafficking detectives of the command included five pregnant women, five nursing mothers, five babies, two of which are less than a month old and eight men whose duty it was to impregnate the women.
The arrest of the proprietor of the baby factory, Mrs Happiness Ogundeji, was after several months of intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by officials of the command.
The suspects were paraded before newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Akure, yesterday, by the state’s comptroller of NIS, Mr Musa Al-Hassan.
According to reports, the proprietor, Mrs Ogundeji had to relocate to Ondo State after she was arrested in Imo State for a similar offence.

SENATE REFUSE TO HEAR NOTICE OF DEFECTION OF 11 PDP SENATORS TO APC
The Senate on Thursday deferred the request by Sen. Bukola Saraki that the notice of defection of 11 PDP senators to the APC be read on the floor of the Senate.
Saraki raised a Point of Order under the Senate Standing Order 15, which stipulates that a matter of privilege shall be given urgent attention by the senate.
Saraki said in Abuja that it was important for the letter to be read on the floor to formally inform the Senate of their defection to the opposition.
“A notice by a letter was communicated yesterday (Wednesday) to your Chair on notification of the change of political party by myself and 10 other senators from the platform of the PDP to the APC.
“So, I felt that it was necessary for me to bring to your attention that the letter has not yet been read,” Saraki said.
The Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekeremadu, who presided over the Thursday’s plenary, said the matter could not be discussed because the Senate President, Sen. David Mark was not in town.

Comrade Ashaolu was declared as the authentic and the duly elected President of the association by a Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State.

SEGUN OKEOWO OF ALI MUST GO FAME DIES AT 73
THE sun, yesterday, finally set on Mr Segun Okeowo, the arrowhead of ‘Ali Must Go’ protests, arguably one of the most violent students agitation in the country.
Okeowo, former president of the National Union of Nigeria Students, NUNS, who championed the students’ protest in the late 70s against the General Olusegun Obasanjo-led military government died at about 6.30 a.m. yesterday at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, at the age of 73.
Mr Kolade Segun-Okeowo, the surviving son of the late unionist, confirmed it, saying his father died from a heart related ailment.
Late Segun Okeowo will be missed for his doggedness, which he demonstrated when he led the students’ union in 1970s, insisting on the removal of then Federal Commissioner forEducation, Col Ahmadu Ali (rtd) over 50 kobo daily meal increase.
Later in life, Okeowo became the chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, TSC, between 2003 to 2011.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO'S BROTHER ARRESTED ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES IN TEXAS
Leonardo DiCaprio's step-brother has allegedly been arrested on drug-related charges in Texas.
Adam Farrar, who is DiCaprio's oldest sibling, was reportedly detained in Collin County Friday on 'two Class A Misdemeanors...for possession of a dangerous drug and theft', reports RadarOnline.
According to the website, both charges were outstanding warrants issued in Los Angeles. He was also reportedly charged with phone harassment.
If convicted, the 43-year-old faces a lengthy prison sentence, reports Radar.

Circling through grapevine is news that KCEE reportedly paid a hefty sum of N68m to have American hip-hop Queen, Nicki Minaj for a collaboration that will also feature his label mate Harrysong.
But KCEE’s manager, Soso Sobrekon, speaking to a NET reporter from the United States has cleared the air on the matter.

PASTOR NABBED FOR RAPING 13-YR-OLD GIRL
This followed a petition written to the Owerri Police Area Command by the lawyer to the father of the alleged rape victim, Mr Emperor Iwuala.
The father of the victim, a widower and does not want his name in print, had alleged that the pastor severally raped his daughter between 2010 and 2013.

Controversial actress Tonto Dike has drawn much criticism from her fans for posting a picture of herself with a young lady she calls her ‘maid’.
The actress posted the Instagram picture with a young lady (apparently her house help) with the caption ‘Day out with mi maid, fun #poko’. But what followed was a torrent of criticism and condemnation from her followers on IG as they didn’t find it amusing that the Nollywood actress described the lady as her ‘maid’
‘Why her name gotta be maid… I bet she has a name# just saying’, a comment read.
‘Must u use the word ‘MAID’???’, another said.

Yoruba comic actor Olaniyi Afonja popularly known as Sanyeri has denied selling the audio recording of his wedding to marketers.
The Oyo State-born actor reveals that even though the CD ‘Igbeyawo Sanyeri’ is on sale in the market, he has no idea how much money came out of the deal.
‘It’s true that my wedding CD is in the market but I am not the one that sold the master CD. It’s Pasuma who owns the music. The marketer contacted him, not me’, he told Encomium Weekly.
