MILEY CYRUS FINALLY OPENS UP ABOUT LIAM HEMSWORTH SPLIT

Miley Cyrus gets more vulnerable and candid than ever talking about her dramatic split (and canceled engagement) with Liam Hemsworth this past fall. The "Wrecking Ball" singer, 21, admits to Barbara Walters that she and the Hunger Games hunk, 23, moved too fast -- and that she held onto the relationship out of fear.

"I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year," the chart-topper says of her record-breaking 2013. She and Hemsworth met on the The Last Song set back in June 2009, announced their engagement three years later. The former Disney star adds: "I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself."

Cyrus confides to Walters that she did indeed love the Australian actor -- and she doesn't even regret their engagement. "I don't think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn't change being engaged," Cyrus said.

"It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years," she added of her huge engagement ring from Hemsworth. "But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy. I wait for those moments of silence, when I'm just at my house, by myself."
