Actor Afeez ‘Saka‘ Oyetoro says he rejected comic roles at the beginning of his career.
‘I rejected several comical roles in a month; I didn’t want to be typecast’, Saka said in a recent interview with NewsWatch.
Ironically, the comedy has brought Saka both fortune and fame in recent times; becoming a typecast in several Nigerian movies, dramas series, sitcoms and TV ads through the years, led Saka to sign a mouth-watering millions of naira endorsement deal with telecommunications company MTN.
The Lagos State University lecturer relocated to Lagos from Ibadan in 2001 and started writing drama scripts with friends.
He describes this as the genesis of his rise to stardom.
