CRISTIANO RONALDO HITS NEW HEIGHTS FOR MADRID

Cristiano Ronaldo hit new heights for Real Madrid on Thursday evening, outjumping his markers by four feet in a remarkable display of athleticism during the Copa del Rey last-16, first-leg win over Osasuna.

Despite his physical magnificence, Ronaldo was unable to get the resulting header on target and it was Karim Benzema and Jese who snatched the goals to hand Real the upper hand.

Gareth Bale played his first full 90 minutes of 2014 as he continued to ease himself back into action following a spell on the sidelines through injury.

Benzema scored his 99th goal in a Real shirt in the win and 20-year-old Jese added the second as they made light work of the visitors. But they will rue a string of second half misses including a Bale shot that Ronaldo inadvertently blocked inside the six-yard box.
