First royal in the South Pole! Prince Harry has completed his Walking With The Wounded trek and officially reached the South Pole on Friday, Dec. 13, organizers for the charity confirm to Us Weekly.
Harry, 29, traveled with three teams -- including True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgard -- for more than three weeks. The group pulled sleds across Antarctica for approximately 210 miles. They reached the South Pole at 12:28 p.m. local time.
Fortunately, the adventurers will be flown out rather than having to make the trek back. A spokesman tells Us that all team members, including Harry, are "well."
"I'm so proud, I'm so chuffed and so privileged to be here with all these guys and girls . . . what an amazing accomplishment," Harry said. "I think we'll be having a few whiskies tonight and then everyone's looking forward to getting home."
Of the trek, he added: "It will just prove to everybody that there's so much that can be made possible when you think that nothing is left."
Harry broke his toe less than a month before his journey, but followed through with his commitment to the charity, which helps disabled British war veterans. "I obviously broke my toe hoping to get out of the trip, that was a massive fail on my part!" the royal, who has grown out a beard on his journey, joked in an interview with Sky News from Antarctica.
"But whatever setbacks I've had, it's irrelevant against these guys and it always was going to be, so there was never any question of pulling out."
Harry also joked that his older brother, Prince William, was envious of his trip. "My brother's just quite jealous that I managed to get away from a screaming child," he quipped about his 4-month-old nephew, Prince George.
