JAY Z COMMUTES VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN LONDON

With an estimated worth of $475m (£300m),and being half of the world's highest earning celebrity couple,Jay Z perhaps has just about has enough money to cover the cab fare from Waterloo to Greenwich.Yet last Saturday the rap superstar spurned the obvious to take the London underground to his gig at the O2 on Saturday evening, accompanied by Coldplay's Chris Martin and the producer and performer Timbaland.

It is not known if Jay Z used an Oyster card or a zone 1-2 day travel card, or if he allowed other passengers to alight before boarding the train, but he did, according to other passengers, demonstrate a worrying lack of knowledge of underground etiquette, refusing to keep his eyes focused on the floor and remain silent.Instead the rapper interacted with fans, talking and looking around the carriage before alighting at his stop.

Jay Z may have been following the lead of Rihanna – who often takes the tube when performing at the O2 – or habours the transport equivalent of low-level sadomaschistic tendancies. But fans were delighted for getting on a train with Jay Z, Chris Martin, and Timbaland.A lesson for Naija celebrities......though Nigeria Railway Corporation is dead but BRT is working.
